How we handle your information.

This notice explains what we collect when you use this website or contact us, why we hold it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written plainly on purpose.

Who is responsible for your information

Tru Terms Consultancy FZC LLC is the controller of the personal data described here. The company is licensed by the Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone Authority, and its Dubai client office is at Servcorp, Level 41, Emirates Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, U.A.E.

For anything in this notice, including any request about your data, write to tru2u@trutermsconsultancy.com.

What we collect

If you send us an enquiry through the contact form, we receive the details you type into it: your name, your email address, and, if you choose to give them, your company and phone number, together with the message itself.

  • If you message us on WhatsApp, we receive your message and the phone number you send it from. That conversation also passes through WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta and governed by Meta's own privacy terms rather than ours.
  • If you email us directly, we receive whatever your email contains.
  • Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested, such as the IP address, browser type, and time of the request. This is used to serve the site and keep it secure, not to build a profile of you.
  • If you are a member of the Tru Terms team with access to the content system, we hold your name, your email address, and a securely hashed version of your password.

What we do not do

We do not run analytics on this website. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, we do not embed third-party trackers or social media pixels, and the fonts are served from our own servers rather than from an external provider, so simply reading a page does not report your visit to anyone else.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it for anyone else's marketing, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

We use what you send us to answer your enquiry, to tell you what a matter would involve and what it would cost, and, if you become a client, to carry out the work and meet the record-keeping obligations that come with it.

Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, we rely on your consent when you choose to contact us, on the necessity of processing to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and keeping the site secure. Where we are required by law to keep records, that obligation is the basis for holding them.

Who else can see it

We use a small number of service providers, and only where they are needed to run the site or the practice. Each one is bound to use the information only for the service it provides to us.

  • Vercel hosts this website and stores any images published with an article.
  • Zoho provides the business systems we use to receive and manage enquiries.
  • Our email provider carries messages to and from the firm.
  • Where a matter requires representation before the UAE courts or the Public Prosecution, information necessary for that matter is shared with the partnered law firm that conducts the advocacy, and only to the extent needed to act for you.
  • We may disclose information where the law, a regulator, or a court requires it.

Where it is held

Some of these providers process data on servers outside the United Arab Emirates. Where information leaves the UAE, we rely on providers that offer an adequate standard of protection and contractual safeguards for the transfer. If you would like more detail about a specific provider, ask us.

How long we keep it

An enquiry that does not become a matter is kept only as long as it is useful to answer it and to keep a short record that it was answered, and is then deleted.

Client records are kept for as long as we act, and afterwards for the period that professional and legal obligations require. Where no obligation applies, we delete what we no longer need.

Your rights

Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law you may ask us to confirm what we hold about you and to give you a copy, to correct anything inaccurate, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to provide it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time, which does not affect anything done beforehand.

Write to tru2u@trutermsconsultancy.com and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you may complain to the UAE Data Office.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to the content system is restricted to named accounts with individual passwords, and passwords are stored hashed rather than in readable form. No system is perfect, but we take the protection of what you send us seriously and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects you and the law requires it.

Children

This website is aimed at businesses and the people who run them. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this notice

If we change how the site or the firm handles personal data, we will update this page and the date shown at the top of it. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
